L'ENGRENAGE

The conferences

Destinations at the heart of the Rum ecosystem

The economic activity of Rum has always developed in a profoundly cultural context regardless of the producing country.

From the relationship between rum and culture, three aspects are easily identifiable and rich:

  • - The representation of rum in art and culture
  • - Culture as a tool for contextualizing rum
  • - Rum: a link in cultural heritage.

It is therefore undeniable that culture constitutes an important part of the Rum Universe. It allows rum to be showcased literally and figuratively and elevates it to the rank of artistic inspiration and subject of sociological reflection.

Travel is an important vector for the development of the Rum ecosystem, so it's only natural that the Lands and Territories of Rum destinations shape the third edition of the World Rum Expo.

Four main spheres

The conferences are structured around four main spheres.

BUSINESS

With production standards, rigorous controls, and optimized logistics, the rum industry is positioning itself to become a world leader in spirits. The WORLD RUM EXPO establishes the foundations of this recognition by bringing together key players and decision-makers to address economic and environmental challenges. This ecosystem will rely on innovative processes, destined to become labels of quality and sustainability.

INNOVATION

Innovation is essential to move forward. The WORLD RUM EXPO brings together ecosystem stakeholders to discuss and act on the future of the industry. The future of rum is at stake here, with innovation as an essential lever of longevity and adaptability. Molecular chemistry, artificial intelligence, circular economy, and new technologies are all responses to the challenges of quality, sustainable packaging (CSR), and barrel manufacturing methods, which will influence the quality and aging of rum.

EDUCATION

The WORLD RUM EXPO places youth at the heart of its priorities, raising awareness among new generations about training and career opportunities in this ecosystem. This third edition will be an opportunity to address the lack of visibility of the sector as a workplace. What training and diploma programs? How to enhance agricultural education? What means of integration for all qualified profiles? These are all questions that will shape the future of young people in the rum industry.
